FISHING RULES IN THE ANADROMIC PART OF THE RAUMA RIVER (EXCEPT ISTRA) FROM 2024

Everyone who gets the opportunity to fish in the Rauma river is obliged to do their utmost to follow the fishing rules. Violation of

the fishing rules are bad behavior towards the salmon!

There is a quota of 2 Raumasalmons per fisherman per 24-hour period, including postponements. When a fisherman has reached the quota, the fishing must

cease until the next fishing day.
Farmed salmon, humpback salmon and salmon of other origin than Rauma do not count towards the quota

and must be killed throughout the fishing season. The trout is completely protected and does not count towards the quota either and is not legall to kill.

1. Everyone who is going to fish after the age of 18 (including the landowners) must buy the Rauma card from Elveguiden. The Rauma card

covers all fishing in the salmon-carrying part of the Rauma River (except Istra) in the year it is resolved. The fishing rules and that

individual withdrawal quotas are also described in the Rauma card. Everyone over the age of 18 must redeem a fishing fee card.

When issuing the Rauma card, the holder undertakes to respect the fishing and harvesting rules, as well as to report

capture/re-release via the Elveguiden. The Rauma card is basically free, but the individual river owner can charge

that fishermen over the age of 18 also pay NOK 100 which accrues to the Rauma river owners' association when the card is redeemed.

Violation of the rules may trigger a fee and/or ban.

2. All fishing equipment must be properly dried before use, and after use if the equipment is taken with you

to other rivers. There are disinfection stations at Åndalsnes camping and Trollveggen camping.

3. Sea otters/brown otters are totally protected. Any such that are caught during fishing must be set as much as possible

returned unharmed. They are reported as reposted aures. The minimum size for salmon is 35 cm.

4. The fishing season is from and including 1 June to and including 31 August. The river is closed from 2200 – 0600.

5. Permitted fishing gear is fly (preferably single-hooked), lure (preferably spoon lure) and spinner of the Mepps type

(Devon spinners are not allowed). If the lure has a hook with 3 hooks, at least one of the hooks must be cut off. Wobbler

is not allowed. As fish must also be restocked, it is a great advantage to use hoofs with knotless rubber netting. The fisherman

must have measuring tape, hook release and cutter pliers. It is always easier to restock fish when there are two. The one who doesn't feel

to master reintroduction, must not fish alone. It is now easy to have telephone contact with other fishermen/helpers

6. All catches and releases must be reported continuously on elveguiden.no or APP and no later than

midnight capture date.

7. From 1 June to 15 July, it is only permitted to kill and keep escaped farmed salmon, humpback salmon and salmon with

origin other than Rauma, for example fat fin clipped from Eira. All other salmon must be set

gently back out. From 16 July to 31 August, all female salmon are protected. In this day and age can

male salmon are kept/must be redeployed according to the rules in the Rauma card. Shell samples must be taken

of all killed fish, including farmed salmon and humpback salmon.

8. It is not permitted to fish from bridges that cross the river.

9. Only viable fish must be restocked. Fish that die during capture and should have been released,

is reported immediately as dead on capture. Such dead fish must be bled and a shell sample taken. Fish that are so damaged

that it cannot be repossessed, euthanized and reported as euthanized. Both categories of dead fish belong to Rauma

river owner association SA. The fisherman delivers dead fish to the fishing license issuer who stores the fish and delivers it

the river owner association by further agreement. Remember shell test. The river owner team will always keep the head for otolith control.

Some fish will inevitably die when caught. As long as you have done your best to follow the regulations,

no one should be afraid to report fish dead when caught. If the same fisherman/fishing group to

constantly experience that fish are dying, the river owner team would like to have a conversation with the fisherman in order to make good

advice on gear use and restocking.
