Salmon fishing in Lapland - Lainioälven

Experience salmon fishing in Lapland! In the Lainioälven there is a very special and exciting fishery for the large Baltic salmon. This is one of the extremely few private salmon runs in Sweden. We fish on about 10 km of river that you can only reach through us. We only sell 8 rods per week. The week is Sunday to Sunday, with fishing Monday to Saturday. We rotate over the entire route. All fishing takes place with a guide, who of course arranges lunch at the beach. Our base camp during the day is right by the river next to the famous Onka home pool. The Lainio river is easily waded and the chance of the dream salmon is greater here than in many other places.

The river

Fishing on our stretch of the Lainioälven begins in the second half of June when the first large salmon come to rest on their way up to the spawning grounds. This is a time that is liked by the more experienced fly fishermen who direct their fishing towards the large salmon which are not infrequently 110cm + long and can weigh over 15 kg. It is often longer between cuts this time, but the reward can be a memory for life. Later in July and in August, the number of fish on the stretch increases and therefore also the chance of hooking fish. The latter part of July and August is a perfect time for beginners and anglers who like to use lighter lines and smaller flies.

Along the route there are both easily accessible places and sections that require a short walk in the forest. These are not fished often and are an interesting target for the more independent angler who can imagine fishing by himself for a few hours.

For the 2023 season, there will be a car for rent at Lapland Guest House for those who want to go out again after dinner and continue the hunt for the Baltic salmon.
