Welcome to Dalheim in Laggo

3 km uphill from the express boat quay in Laggo, you will find Dalheim Farm, idyllically located on the southern bank of the Langfjord River and serving as a gateway to the wilderness. The farm was established as a smallholding in the 1930s by Egil and Elsa Jensen. After active farming ceased around 1970, their eldest son Charles took over and further developed the farm as a tourist destination until his passing in 2023.

Today, the farm stands as a unique rural homestead with distinctive buildings and artistic installations. In 2024, Eva Heika and Trond Rypdal Sveen purchased Dalheim. We live here, maintain the buildings to the best of our ability, and warmly welcome both returning and new guests to the farm!

At/from Dalheim we offer:

The farmyard features a rich and varied collection of buildings, including the main house, a barn with a gathering/party venue in the loft, tool sheds, garages, several storehouses, barbecue huts, a traditional turf hut camp, and a sauna. You will also find installations for exercise, fitness training, and various ball games.

There is no TV, radio, telephone, or internet coverage in the main house or in the Rolfbu Storehouse Cabin, allowing you to fully enjoy nature and peaceful surroundings without digital distractions. You`ll find satellite based internet coverage in the farmyard and in the barn.

Dalheim is an excellent base for salmon and sea-run Arctic char fishing in the lower sections of the Langfjord River. When renting the main house, you also receive exclusive fishing rights on the Dalheim stretch — approximately 500 meters along the south side of the river. Here you will find pools such as Jensenkulpen, Charlesholla, and the lower part of Nedre Hyttedammen, all of which can provide excellent fishing opportunities.

There is no limit to the number of rods/fishers on the stretch, meaning the renter decides how many people may fish. We follow the current fishing regulations for the river, with two exceptions:

Weighted flies are not permitted during low water conditions (we gladly recommend dry flies instead)
The daily quota per angler is 2 salmon, including catch & release

The Main House

The main house remains almost unchanged since it was built and provides a fascinating glimpse into how daily life may have been for settlers nearly a hundred years ago.

The house is rented on a weekly basis, with Fridays as arrival and departure days. It has:

10 beds on the second floor
Running summer water
Shower and freezer in the basement
A well-equipped kitchen with refrigerator, oven, kettle, and all necessary cookware, plates, cups, glasses, and cutlery
An outdoor toilet located in the barn

Guests must bring their own bed linen as well as food and beverages for the stay.

The house has both electric and wood-fired heating. The storehouse “Martinbu” with 2 beds may be included in the rental agreement upon request.

Cleaning is done by the guests unless otherwise agreed.

Rolfbu Storehouse Cabin

Rolfbu is a cozy little cabin available for daily rental. It includes:

Refrigerator and freezer
Electric heater and cooking plates
Basic cookware, tableware, and cutlery

Water is collected from the farmyard, and the outdoor toilet is located in the barn.

The upper floor sleeps 2–3 people, depending on how cozy you are willing to be.

Cleaning is done by the guests unless otherwise agreed.

When the main house with fishing rights is not rented out, you may rent exclusive fishing rights for the Dalheim stretch separately. The number of rods/fishers is unlimited, so you decide how many anglers to invite with you.

Access / Getting Here

You can fly to Lakselv, Kirkenes, or Mehamn. Both Mehamn and Kjøllefjord are ports of call for the Hurtigruten coastal ferry. A bus from the airport to Skjånes or Nikolasdalen may be possible and must be booked via the Snelandia Reise app or through Snelandia customer service.

By car, drive to Skjånes or Nervei to board the express boat to Laggo. The boat stops on signal and must therefore be booked in advance — at least 2 hours before departure, or the day before if you are taking the Wednesday morning boat.

From the large parking area at Nikolasdalen, you can hike down to Laggo. You may either:

Follow the Nikolas stream down to the Langfjord River and then continue along the river to Dalheim (8–9 km), or
Cross the mountain and meet the river further downstream (6–7 km)

Please note that Dalheim is located on the opposite side of the river, so you must take water levels into account when wading. During medium and low water conditions, there are many good crossing points — for example near the lower part of Jensenkulpen on the Dalheim fishing stretch.

Cancellation / Refund Policy

More than 2 months before arrival: 100% refund
Within 1 month before arrival: 70% refund
Within 14 days before arrival: 50% refund
Later than 14 days before arrival: No refund

If the river is closed for fishing due to conservation reasons, the following applies:

If you choose not to come, you may request a 100% refund of fishing permits, accommodation, and package prices.
If you still choose to stay at the farm, you may request a 100% refund of the fishing permit price.

Refund claims must be submitted within 14 days after the river was closed for fishing.
