Bjørnar Neteland on waterdata in Elveguiden PRO

Bjørnar Neteland on waterdata in PRO - features

Something happens when you set the clock forward towards summer. Personally, I start checking the amount of snow in the mountains, before gradually transitioning to updating the water and weather forecast weekly, daily, and eventually hourly. It has been like this since the smartphone came into my life. Elveguiden PRO is coming soon, and it was natural that when we first created PRO features for salmon fishermen, water data would be an important part of it. And it will be!

Why and how to use water flow?
We have developed these features with input from dozens of fishermen which early on confirmed that waterdata is not only important for the Elveguiden-team, but for everyone who wants to spend their time be the river. That's why we're going to gather water flow, water temperature, tides, weather, etc. where it's available, and make it visible in various ways in your app.

Favourite list. To minimize the number of clicks needed to access vital information from your favourite rivers and beats, one of the big wishes was to gather this information on one and the same page. With your "favorite list," you can collect the rivers and beats you want information from. Here you will see water flow, water temperature, weather, catch, and tides on the same page. Fun and a bit dangerous maybe?

Water flow on the catch.  Even though I landed my dream salmon as late as last summer, I have forgotten what the weather, water flow, and water temperature were like. As a PRO user, I will now be served this data on my dream fish. With PRO, I can now click into my historical catches in the app and find out how the water flow, water temperature, and tides were when the catches were caught. I will also be able to do the same on each individual catch in the official statistic / Laksebørs. For example, the largest salmon in Orkla in 2021, the largest sea trout in Aurland in 2020, or the smallest pink salmon in Lakselv in 2021, I will now have the opportunity to see how the conditions were exactly when this fish was caught. Note: This, of course, assumes that the river where the catch was taken has available data on that time.

Historical catch. Just like all the catches I already have on my profile on Elveguiden, I can also upload historical catches and have data displayed on them. Forgetful as I am, it's hopeless that I remember the water flow when I got my first 10-kilo in 2011 (or was it 2012?). With Elveguiden PRO, I can find out. With just a few clicks, I can upload this catch and get all available data related to it.

Some might say it's too much,I say it's about time! Best regards from someone who can feel that the season is approaching. Bjørnar Neteland - Contact (bjornar@elveguiden.no)
