River Card – Registration of Fishing Effort

River Card – Registration of Fishing Effort

The river card is a registration card, and it is the local management that decides whether it should be used in the watercourse. The main purpose of the river card is to give the management team an overview of the number of anglers in the river. With the river card, anglers can register their fishing effort. Each management team determines how often the fishing effort should be registered, but starting in 2025, it will be possible to register your fishing effort daily on the river card. All registered fishing effort is visible on your own river card in the Elveguiden app (and on the web). The local management team has access to all registrations and can use this information in their management work.

Here we will show, step by step, how you as an angler can register your fishing effort this summer. The very best way is to do it day by day, but you can also register retroactively. Always remember to check what the local management team has decided in the river you are fishing in regarding this.

How to Register Fishing Effort

1. Buy the River Card in the usual way. You’ll find it on the river’s page or under “Buy” and “River Card” in the app.

2. After fishing, open the app or the website to report your fishing effort. Click on your profile and then “River Card.” In the app, tap the hamburger menu in the top right corner to find your profile and your river cards.

3. Select the river card you want to report fishing effort for, and click “Register fishing effort.”

4. Choose your fishing permit type: day pass, period pass, or season pass. A period pass could be, for example, a 3-day pass, a weekly pass, etc. If you are fishing on a leasehold stretch or have a landowner card valid for the entire season, choose season pass.

5. Enter the average number of hours you fished.

6. In the calendar, check the date you want to log the fishing effort for.

7. Click submit.

8. Your log is now stored on your river card.

9. If you want to edit or delete the log, you can do so afterwards.
