Trout fishing in Finland - just a dream?

There are probably several of us fly fishers out there who dream about catching several species, with different methods and perhaps in other countries.. After my colleague Helge told stories about monster trout in Läsäkoski in Finland, I have to admit that it is something I have thought alot about. Is it possible? What will it cost? And who can do it? Read more and I'll tell you what I've found!

Browntroutland in Konnevedenkosket This area that we are now offering packages for in Finland has over 10 km of perfect conditions for trout fishing. It is also a private fishing area, so you won't have to wait in line to fish. This area is one of the best for brown trout fishing in Europe at the moment! The region is also known for its large trout. A typical Central Finnish brown trout is about 50 cm, and in very good condition. However, the largest trout can be over 70 cm!
Fishing, Accommodation, and Guide
Getting access to fishing permits, accommodation, and a guide is the least of your worries. There are several different types of packages to choose from.
Option 1) 5 nights / 6 days – 3 guided days / 5 full fishing days €2650 per person.
The price is based on two people sharing a room. The package includes: All fishing permits, dinner on the arrival day, and breakfast on the departure day. Other days are full board.
Option 2) 2 nights / 3 days – 2 guided days / 2 full fishing days €990 per person.

Option 3) 2 nights / 3 days – 2 full fishing days without a guide €610 per person.

Psst: In typical Finnish style, all guests also have free access to the sauna. It is also possible to borrow equipment there if needed.

How to get there?
The nearest airport to Kellankoski is Kuopio Airport. From Gardermoen, there are flights to Kuopio 9 times a day with a layover in Helsinki (note that only 3 of these have favorable travel times). From the airport to Kellankoski, it is a 1.5-hour drive. At the airport, there are several car rental companies, including Avis, as well as autoUnion and Europcar.
