Tom Christian Nynes' Evaluation of PRO:

Finally, it's here. Elveguiden PRO. The Elveguiden team had teased it so much that my expectations were sky-high. So far, it's easy to say that I'm not disappointed. This is how I will use the app as a tool during the season:

My Own Catch Diary! My Catches:

Like most others, I first looked at previous catches. Although I remember most of the salmon and roughly how the conditions were, it was incredibly interesting for me to get details about water levels, water temperature, and tides related to my previous catches. If you navigate to "View catch statistics," you get further information in the form of graphs for water level, temperature, and tides, among others. 

Here, I made a useful observation that I was not aware of: I caught several salmon in the same stretch of the river in June last year. They were caught at different water levels and different times of the day. However, PRO shows me that all of them were caught approximately 6 hours after high tide! This could, of course, be a coincidence, but it is definitely something I will pay attention to the next time I fish in the same spot.

Favorites:

The next thing I did was save my own favorites. So far, I have entered all the rivers and stretches where I know I will fish during the season. They are easily accessible, so when I click on one of them, I immediately get information about the conditions in the river. Gold! If I have saved a river as a favorite, all available zones and available fishing options are readily available. This is in addition to information about the river, salmon markets, fishing regulations, and disinfection information. Useful and necessary information has never been more easily accessible.

Discover New Fishing Spots:

I assume that there are others like me who appreciate fishing and experiencing new rivers. If so, I encourage you to check out the "Hidden Gems" and "New Offers" tabs in the app. There are so many exciting fishing opportunities out there if you have a bit of an adventurous spirit.

Reporting Catches:

The hope is that you don't have to wait too many days into the new season before you can report catches. This has never been easier than in the new Elveguiden app. Press report, search for the correct river, and then just follow the steps on the screen. Quick and simple.

I also really like the latest catches in my home/starting area. It's possible to get lost scrolling through them. This adds extra fuel to the fishing fever that is already burning strongly in the body.

Why PRO?

The information you get from the new Elveguiden PRO is up to each individual to use! Some may find it too much information and feel that it takes away some of the charm of fishing, and I respect that opinion, of course. However, if you choose to make use of and organize the information that you now easily have access to through PRO, I am convinced that it can provide an extra little edge on upcoming fishing trips and, most importantly, prolong a good fishing experience!
